Cumberland Plateau Fall Color

Yesterday (Tuesday October 29) I headed to the Obed NSR just outside of Wartburg on the Cumberland Plateau. From Oak Ridge to Wartburg, the colors looked promising but the fog kept me from looking at the mountainsides.

I headed to Lily Bluff Overlook, one of my favorite places in the park. Great color to be seen from the overlook, but the hillsides that sloped down toward the river are not as spectacular this year as they were last year. The fog helped create some ambiance.

I also played with my Multiple Image Monets and had several that I really liked.

Looking at the hillsides on the way back to Oak Ridge, if color happens, it will be late this week or early next week or even next weekend (Second weekend in November) before we hit our peak.. Wow, talk about a late fall!
